ABOUT FEMTECHIES

FemTechies, a unit in @iLabAfrica Research Centre – Strathmore University, is dedicated towards connecting and empowering the next generation of women leaders in Information Technology through mentorship and digital skills development. FemTechies stands for Female Techies (a Techie is a person with great passion for, or with expertise in Technology) and is driven by young energetic and intelligent ladies who are passionate about information technology and have vast experience in developing programs, coordinating and facilitating trainings.

FemTechies, in collaboration with the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA), will be hosting the 2019 Girls in ICT Fair on April 24, 2019 at Strathmore University, Nairobi, Kenya.

2019 GIRLS IN ICT FAIR

In line with its mandate of connecting and empowering the next generation of women leaders in Information Technology, FemTechies intends to hold a one-day Girls in ICT fair to commemorate the International Girls in ICT Day and to create awareness of STEM subjects as well as encourage girls to take up STEM related courses. International Girls in ICT Day is celebrated every year on the fourth Thursday of April and will be observed on 25 April 2019.
The ITU Secretary General invites ITU Member States, Sector Members, Associates and Academia to organize events attracting as many girls and young women as possible. FemTechies will host this fair on April 24, 2019 at Strathmore University, Nairobi, Kenya.
