Revenue Enhancement Training Workshop

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Having a clear understanding of the revenue administration reform modernization strategy is very important in unlocking the revenue potential of the county.

Strathmore University’s @iLabAfrica, in partnership with Inspire Africa is proposing to offer a Revenue Enhancement Training program to meet this objective. The training will offer the necessary building blocks towards building capacity of staff, who are key in revamping the county’s revenue collection strategy. The Revenue Enhancement Training will cover all county revenues provided by law, and include areas such as: constitutional provisions of taxes and revenues, strategies to reduce a county’s dependence from its equitable share of national revenues, and methods to maximize revenues within the general fund.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

The specific objectives of the training are to:

• Strengthen participants understanding of basic tenets of revenue administration with a focus on unlocking the revenue potential of the county.
• Enhance participants’ ability to examine the bottlenecks impeding the counties revenue potential, and remedying the situation.
• Gain a clear understanding of sub national fiscal policy analysis, especially from the perspective of revenue policy and resource mobilization.
• Critically review revenue collection automation projects, and key factors for the success and failure of such undertakings

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

The course targets county officials, actively involved in mobilizing revenues in the form of rates, fees, fines, licenses, rent, among others to augment local county revenues.These includes senior and middle managers in the revenue/finance departments of County Governments, including Directors, Chief Officers, Sub-county Administrators, Revenue Officers, Members of the County Assembly (MCAs), in charge of the budgeting process, and professionals willing to learn advanced techniques on revenue enhancements within the devolved governance structure.

 LOGISTICS & DELIVERY METHOD

This 4 Days Revenue Enhancement specialized Training will be held at @iLabAfrica, Strathmore University and delegates are expected to organize for their movement and accommodation. This hands-on experience and highly practical course is run in the ultramodern lecture rooms of Strathmore University.
